JOIN US as we work to provide a bicycle for each of our 69 Community Health Workers.
These women provide a crucial link in the health system in a district where there are only two physicians for 269,000 people. They have been trained to provide direct patient care (triage, emergency treatment, and referrals) and health education to tens of thousands of community members in the often remote villages they serve.
An enormous challenge for these empowered women is the amount of time they spend walking to distant parts of their assigned territories. Some walk up to eight hours one way, see their patient, and then return home the next day. The increased range of bicycle travel would vastly improve their mobility, efficiency, effectiveness, motivation, and lives.
A tax-deductible donation of $250 covers the cost of one heavy-duty Buffalo Bicycle, plus shipping, taxes, and spare parts. Please contribute what you can.
